Katharina Troe, internationally renowned soloist and chamber musician started her studies with Martin Ostertag at the Conservatory of Music Karlsruhe at age 14. After her diploma she graduated from the Conservatories of Fiesole and Cologne and became  assistant professor to both of her teachers,  Amedeo Baldovino and Claus Kanngiesser. She received essential artistic impulses from Janos Starker, David Geringas, Daniil Schafran, Anner Bylsma and Maria Kliegel. Prizewinner of international competitions, such as " Jugend musiziert",  Parke-Davis-Preis, Premio Ferdinando Calcaviello, scholarship of the "Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes", the Abbado Trust, the  "Villa Musica" and  the state government of Baden-Wurttemberg. As a member of the European Community Youth Orchestra she toured with Bernard Haitink and Erich Leinsdorf. Ever since then, she became a welcome guest of numerous festivals, e.g. the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festivals, the Sommerliche Musiktage Hitzacker, Frankfurter Feste, Mendelssohn-Festtage Leipzig, Robert-und-Clara-Schumann-Fest Leipzig, Weidener Max-Reger-Tage, Académies musicales de Saintes, Festspiele der Amici della Musica Firenze, Accademia Chigiana Siena, Musiksommer Claus. As a member of the Hyperion Trio she won the International Johannes Brahms Competition Pörtschach in 2001. Since then the Trio became a guest to international concert venues and festivals. Recordings of the Hyperion Trio are enthusiastically reviewed by the international music press.

 

Katharina Troe has been teaching at the Conservatory of Music, Cologne from 1998-2006. Since 2013 she is a jury member of the international Brahms Competition, Pörtschach. She regularly gives masterclasses in Germany and Italy.
